In Store and Online Music Marketing

Did everyone catch the golden globes last night? Amy Poehler must have a thing for Bono ever since she cried at their SNL performance now she was making out with him before accepting her award. Congrats to U2 on their extraordinary win for Mandela.  It was also great to see the nominations for  Inside Llewyn Davis .

Broadtime is presenting early BPM Kiosk listens and signage screensavers for Against Me! this week as they have a profound story to tell. We also have the new artist Banks with a video presentation. As well as the really rocking The Pack AD.  We are excited for the new Bruce and of course the incomparable Sharon Jones.

Our retailers have really shown a lot of excitment and interest in our new tablet stations and marketing capabilities. We are pleased with our growth in label marketing and looking ahead to all the creative ways we can spotlight artists to increase sales.

Remember, we can also geographically target a tour along with the new releases, and video and signage remains one of our most powerful sales tools.

Please contact us to learn more about what we do and who we serve, and how we can deliver exposure for your project.

The Boss is back! Bruce Springsteen returns with his 18th studio album High Hopes which gathers together a collection of covers, outtakes and new takes of previously released songs.  As ever he is joined by members of the E Street Band in various large and small combinations but he has also enlisted guitarist Tom Morello on eight of the tracks. Besides Morello, the album also includes appearances on several songs by Clarence Clemons, who passed away in 2011, and Danny Federici, who passed away in 2008, on what Springsteen calls "some of our best unreleased material from the past decade".

Making another welcome return are Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Give The People What They Want is certainly an appropriate title for their new release. The ten tracks they've delivered are what you've come to expect, even need, from the 11-piece band: the classic songwriting of We Get Along, the impressive energy of Retreat, and, solidified in Stranger To My Happiness; that kind of studio expertise that defines the band and their sound. It's those sharp, danceable funk grooves that stick to your bones; the fervent, impassioned singing that goes straight to your heart; and those sweet soul hooks that stay in your head for days on end. Give the people what they want, indeed.

Rosanne Cash delivers another amazing feat of musical storytelling with her longtime collaborator John Leventhal. The River & The Thread is sweeping in its breadth, capturing a unique, multi-generational cast of characters. While Cash and Leventhal found inspiration in the many musical styles associated with the South - swampy Delta Blues, Gospel, Appalachian Folk, Country and Rock, to name a few - this is a completely contemporary collection.

Plus there are other great, new releases including the Las Vegas originated duo Crystal Method with their 5th full length release and the 1st in five years, Crystal Method, featuring guest appearances from Leann Rimes and Nick Thayer. It can be difficult to capture the live power of band on a studio recording. Thankfully, Lone Justice (Maria McKee, Ryan Hedgecock, Marvin Etzioni, and Don Heffington) went into Suite 16 Studios in December of 1983 and laid down much of the set list they were packing Los Angeles area clubs with and now for the first time those tracks are available on This Is Lone Justice: The Vaught Tapes 1983. Out of print for 10 years, Lucinda Williams self-titled album, Lucinda Williamsoften referred to as the Rough Trade album, is released as a remastered 25th Anniversary Special Reissue with a bonus disc containing an unreleased 1989 concert in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Grammy Award-winning alt-rock band Switchfoot, release their new album Fading West.  And Tangerine Dream re-release one of their signature film scores for Michael Mann's directorial debut Thief with an updated track list which now includes both the Confrontation and Beach Scene tracks.  The Movie itself has also received the Criterion Collection treatment and is out on Blu-ray this week for the first time.

Plus, Jennifer NettlesJoanne Shaw TaylorKidz BopJon PardiMark LaneganRailroad EarthJames Vincent McMorrowTinsley EllisYou Blew It!Devour The DayMary Chapin CarpenterThe SupersuckersFM359 and Crazy Horse, all have new albums today.

There are also a couple of singles available, including Young The Giant with Mind Over Matter [Single], which is taken from thier album of the same name, Mind Over Matter, which is out next week.

And LA based Music and Art project Young & Sick release their second single Magnolia [Vinyl Single].

Against Me - Transgender Dysphoria BluesLooking ahead to next week's chart, We are excited to present an Early Listen for Transgender Dysphoria Blues, the intense follow-up to Against Me's previous full-length album, White Crosses, which stands as another major benchmark for the band and its career spanning 10+ years.  Despite the bands long running history the new album almost serves as a debut as it marks the first album since lead singer Tom Gabel came out as preoperative transgender. Now named Laura Jane Grace, the album's material examines one's grappling with gender dysphoria, the loss of a young friend and pure self discovery, as well as love and ultimate acceptace.  The album is available now for pre order and you can preview the tracks here as well as visit instore to hear the full album.

For more information on these and other releases out this week, check out our New Releases charts by week section and don't forget that many of these titles are also available on vinyl.
