Commemorating the 50th anniversary of when they touched down at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport. The Beatles release a new 13 CD Box Set The U.S. Albums. The Beatles’ U.S. albums differed from the band’s U.K. albums in a variety of ways, including different track lists, song mixes, album titles, and art. Each CD is packaged in Miniature Vinyl Sleeves that faithfully recreate the original U.S. LP releases down to the finest detail, including inner sleeves. As well as this fantastic box set each of the albums are available individually and can be found here. Transgender Dysphoria Blues is the intense follow-up to Against Me's previous full-length album, White Crosses, which stands as another major benchmark for the band and its career spanning 10+ years. Despite the bands long running history the new album almost serves as a debut as it marks the first album since lead singer Tom Gabel came out as preoperative transgender. Now named Laura Jane Grace, the album's material examines one's grappling with gender dysphoria, the loss of a young friend and pure self discovery, as well as love and ultimate acceptance. The album is available now and you can preview the tracks here as well as visit instore to hear the full album.
Wild LA rockers, together PANGEA release their much anticipated Harvest Records debut album Badillac. Packing raw, power heavy sounds with a splash of handclaps it is pure rock'n'roll, the way it should be. The band have recently played shows with Wavves, The Black Lips, FIDLAR, Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, King Kahn and the Shrines, Nobunny, Redd Kross, Guitar Wolf, The Strange Boys, and many more. For those who pick up an early copy of the album there is also a free cassingle of their recent single Snakedog which was originally released back in August. The album is available now and you can preview the tracks here as well as visit instore to hear the full album.
With his turbo-charged new Alligator Records album, The Devil You Know, multiple Blues Music Award-winner Tommy Castro strips his music down to its raw essence as he rockets into the next phase of his storied career. Recorded in the Bay Area with his fiery new band The Painkillers and produced by Castro and Bonnie Hayes, the The Devil You Know is a contemporary blues tour-de-force. The album is an untamed, high-energy set of 13 songs, including nine written or co-written by Castro.
Plus there are other great, new releases including the 2014 Grammy Nominees album which features many of the year's most prominent recordings and performers including Bruno Mars, Robin Thicke, Lorde, Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar and many more. California rock quintet Young The Giant release their second album, Mind Over Matter which finds them pursuing an original direction grounded on driving, intricate rhythms and heavier guitars. A Great Big World which features New York-based singer-songwriting duo Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino, have received critical acclaim from both the press and music community for their recent singles and now they can expect more praise as they release their debut album Is There Anybody Out There? New 'Supergroup' Hard Working Americans consisting of Todd Snider (vox), Dave Schools of Widespread Panic (bass), Neal Casal of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood (guitars/vox), Chad Staehly of Great American Taxi (keys) and Duane Trucks of King Lincoln and of the Trucks family lineage (drums) release their self-titled debut album, Plus right now we have an Indie Exclusive version which is at a reduced price while they last. Reverend Horton Heat release REV, their first album in four years and a return to their Psychobilly/Rockabilly roots. Iced Earth release Plagues Of Babylon, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2011 album Dystopia. And Iconic German rockers The Scorpions release their Mtv Unplugged performance from September 2013 where they performed a fantastic acoustic set at the Lycabettus theatre in Athens, Greece.
Plus, Elizabeth & The Catapult, Warpaint, Damien Jurando, Mogwai, Los Lonely Boys, Doug Paisley, Ray Benson, Nashville Pussy, Silent Force, Silver Mt. Zion, Step Brothers, Paul McCartney, Matt Wilson Quartet + John Medeski, Ultra Dance 15, Bad Suns, Jennifer Holliday, Paula Cassidy, Dog Bite, Jason Eady, Boz Scaggs and Deer Lodge: A Tribute To George Jones all have new albums today.
There are also a couple of singles available, including the return of The Dead Weather who release Open Up (That's Enough). The single is the first in a series of single releases which will run up the release of their new album in 2015.
And Shakira teams up with Rihanna for her new single Can't Remember to Forget You.
EARLY LISTEN AND PREVIEW
Looking ahead to next week's chart, We are excited to present an Early Listen for Do Not Engage, the latest offering from The Pack A.D. Long celebrated on the fringes of Canada's endlessly fruitful indie-rock scene as a feral live act nonpareil and a band destined to eventually make that one record that finally puts it over the top, The Pack A.D. has delivered the album that should finally, genuinely yes put it over the top. Do Not Engage reunites The Pack A.D. with Detroit producer Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Electric Six, The Mooney Suzuki, Dirtbombs), a friend-turned-collaborator who insisted upon working behind the boards for Unpersons a record that would go on to earn the band its first Juno Award nomination in 2013 for Breakthrough Group Of The Year and has proven himself something of an ideal ghost third member by coaxing Black and Miller to their finest work yet on Do Not Engage. The album is available now for pre order and you can preview the tracks here as well as visit instore to hear the full album.
Northern California band Sleepy Sun, sometimes seem to have lived the lives of a hundred bands. They have toured incessantly, shed old skin, tore down walls with riffs, and explored black smoke, barrel-dark songs, and studio sheen all with a core that has survived since the band crawled from the dusty sage-scented Santa Cruz underbrush. It's that core, and the experiential sum of those hundred lives, which shape the band's fourth release Maui Tears. In the sounds of Maui Tears, you hear echoes of nights shared with fellows and allies like Arctic Monkeys and Black Angels...a band growing self-assured as studio presence...the elasticity and tensions of a creative brotherhood. And like every Sleepy Sun record, it deftly walks the borders and boundaries between hooky power pop classicism and hazy, primer-grey Camaro rock all colored by a lurking sense of fog, unease, and mystery at the corners. The album is available now for pre order and you can preview the tracks and watch the video for lead single The Lane here as well as visit instore to hear the full album.
For more information on these and other releases out this week, check out our New Releases charts by week section and don't forget that many of these titles are also available on vinyl.
