2. NEW PREORDER CAMPAIGN OFFERING
Broadtime is launching a brand new preorder campaign program as this seems to be a big push for everyone. It also allows us to have a lower dollar entry point, that may optionally be upgraded later to the full program. This seems like a great way to generate early interest in some developing artists if budgets are tight. We are extending our regular campaign so that preorder setup and banners may be included as well.
We are also highlighting and pricing our “later push” as an affordable option to align with later pickups and tours.
Example notes that we are sending out to our store customers via newsletter that talks about preorders that we have setup:
PRE ORDERS (with BANNERS and Metadata)

Here is the new pricing language:
Cost: $600

3. RSD Update and Stores prep
Record Store Day setup
As we do every year, we have taken ALL of the "official" RSD releases that are setup on the main RSD Site and created those titles on the individual stores website and listening stations. They are "protected" from being for sale as a preorder and will be released after Record Store Day so that they may represent left over inventory.
In order for customers to browse the titles on the store's site and stations, we have created a GENRE for RSD 2017 on the sites and stations (and apps). We have featured this genre on the back end tuneportals website and/or BPM listening station. Stores may edit the placement of the genre.
http://plan9music.com/Genre/694747
It will be the same ID on any site: http://[yoursitename]/Genre/694747

4. BROADTIME APP UPDATES - ANDROID & GROWTH
It's no secret that we have been working hard to create a branded customer experience for our stores and for labels in the world of phone apps. While it's valuable to have our listening station delivered in app form, when it comes to creating the ideal app and relationship with customers there are lot of things to do and build. We have been working on the concept for over a year now and we are very close to wide scale roll out (starting with existing customers).
There are several really valuable things that an app can do for LABELS, stores and music customers. Read more about our BPM Mobile Features here: BPM Mobile App
Visit the Apple APP Store to download our new Plan 9 APP
and place our in-store listening experience in your pocket!
5. BROADTIME ON THE ROAD AND TOUR SUPPORT
As we look to creative ways, to drive more attention to artists and releases at retail, we contemplated the markets where we have website and kiosk customers and the map gives us some really good (and growing) coverage of the country. We are super excited to now have over 80 stations in service at stores around the country.
See Map below and interactively on our Tour Support page.
So, in addition to our tagging and display of videos, banners, and digital signage, we can create concert calendar events in the markets, and create additional signage and banners, and event tagging.
An individual Event for each show will be created and placed on the calendar of each Record Store within the touring market invoking an EVENT tag to be placed on each release of the artist. The tour dates will also be highlighted on The Home Page and Artist Page of each applicable site and Kiosk. (as well as New Release, and featured item pages)
Broadtime will create and provide an individual animated Kiosk screen saver sign and banners for each Record Store located within the touring market calling out the specific local date and venue. These will rotate when station is idle -
MAIN BULLET POINTS:
* It's like getting two ads in one, as there is extra promotion that also cover the concerts
* It's up to 4 Months of ad coverage for the tour
More Info: BROADTIME TOUR SUPPORT
Example:
Example Tear Sheet with Dates
We will add in Tour support on our proposals by default for a modest increase, to cover the cost of the dozen or so banners, signage, and event creation we will undertake. It's optional of course, for some titles it may make more sense to run as we do today.
However, the impact and improved exposure in the touring markets will pull in more and more fans to stores and shows.

6. NEW RELEASE ROUND UP - Courtesy of Easy Street Records
FATHER JOHN MISTY - Pure Comedy - Sub Pop Pure Comedy, Father John Misty's third album, is a complex, often-sardonic, and, equally often, touching meditation on the confounding folly of modern humanity. Father John Misty is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Josh Tillman. Tillman has released two widely acclaimed albums – Fear Fun (2012) and I Love You, Honeybear (2015) – and the recent “Real Love Baby” single as Father John Misty, and recently contributed to songs by Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Kid Cudi. While we could say a lot about Pure Comedy – including that it is a bold, important album in the tradition of American songwriting greats like Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, and Leonard Cohen – we think it’s best to let its creator describe it himself. Take it away, Mr. Tillman: Pure Comedy is the story of a species born with a half-formed brain. The species’ only hope for survival, finding itself on a cruel, unpredictable rock surrounded by other species who seem far more adept at this whole thing (and to whom they are delicious), is the reliance on other, slightly older, half-formed brains. This reliance takes on a few different names as their story unfolds, like “love,” “culture,” “family,” etc. Over time, and as their brains prove to be remarkably good at inventing meaning where there is none, the species becomes the purveyor of increasingly bizarre and sophisticated ironies. These ironies are designed to help cope with the species’ loathsome vulnerability and to try and reconcile how disproportionate their imagination is to the monotony of their existence. Something like that. Pure Comedy was recorded in 2016 at the legendary United Studios (Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Beck) in Hollywood, CA. It was produced by Father John Misty and Jonathan Wilson, with engineering by Misty’s longtime sound-person Trevor Spencer and orchestral arrangements by renowned composer/double-bassist Gavin Bryars (known for extensive solo work, and work with Brian Eno, Tom Waits, Derek Bailey).

THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS - Whiteout Conditions - Concord Records 'Cohesive.' It's a word New Pornographers founder A.C. Newman still sounds a little bit surprised to say as he describing the band's seventh album, Whiteout Conditions. It's a quality that you wouldn't necessarily intuitively associate with a so-called supergroup that, by its very collective nature, seems bound to have a good deal of stylistic variance built into the formula (or lack of it). Can an outfit built on the appeal of multiple frontmen and frontwomen develop a signature sound after all? Maybe, and maybe better late than never.
COLD WAR KIDS - La Divine - Capitol La Divine, Cold War Kids most expansive and ambitious effort so far, pays tribute to Los Angeles in all its strange glory, embodying the Long Beach-bred band s endless fascination with their adopted hometown. In many ways, LA is the least divine city, the most hedonistic and irreverent and disconnected from history, says Willett. LA's so massive, I feel like I'm always finding something new in it, adds bassist Matt Maust. It's an incredibly weird place, and I'm happy to have made an album that totally honors that weirdness.
THE CHAINSMOKERS - Memories...Do Not Open - Sony Memories...Do Not Open is the debut full-length album from Grammy Award winning artist/producer duo The Chainsmokers. Comprised of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, The Chainsmokers have evolved into a dominating musical force with a diverse repertoire of songs that have led them to become today's hottest young artist/producer duo. With a signature sound that deftly reaches across indie, progressive and pop realms, their original tracks and remixes have topped the charts throughout the world.
ANDREW COMBS - Canyons Of My Mind - New West Records Canyons Of My Mind is a collection of songs, all put together, that embodies the idea of a young man growing older. The album consists of the customary songs about lost love and travel, but also hits on more mature issues, such as environmental awareness, spirituality, mental illness, and political exploitation. Taking on a more introspective and controlling role in the writing and recording process, I dug deep inside my own heart and mind to create what I think is a good illustration of a man becoming more comfortable in his own skin. -Andrew Combs (December 2016)
FUTURE ISLANDS - The Far Field - 4AD The Far Field refines and builds on the breakthroughs of the Baltimore-based trio’s 2014 album Singles, bursting with undeniable hooks and disarmingly honest lyrics written by Samuel T. Herring (vocals, lyrics), William Cashion (bass, guitars) and Gerrit Whelmers (keyboards, programming). After the success of Singles and the hundreds of Future Islands shows played in that period, the band began writing new material on the coast of North Carolina, and continued throughout the year in Baltimore before road-testing these songs at a series of secret shows under fake names. Later that year, they traveled to Los Angeles to record with Grammy Award-winning producer John Congleton at the legendary Sunset Sound, where everyone from The Beach Boys to Prince have laid down masterpieces. With string and horn arrangements by Patrick McMinn, The Far Field is the first Future Islands record to feature live drums by Michael Lowry, who joined the band prior to their sensational performance of “Seasons (Waiting On You)” on David Letterman’s late night TV show. Blondie’s Debbie Harry also makes a guest appearance, in a duet with Herring on penultimate track “Shadows.” Across The Far Field’s twelve chest-pounding love songs and odes to the road, Future Islands brilliantly expresses the band’s central themes they’ve been exploring for the last decade: that there is power in emotional vulnerability, that one can find a way to laugh and cry in the same breath – and be stronger for it. “This is the kind of band that makes you wish other bands tried harder.” - Pitchfork “An absolute and unqualified triumph” -Stereogum “Mournful, triumphant, heroic” -Complex
