1. Listening Station Preview Chart

Broadtime has been working on tapping into our analytics to get a better reporting of the records that folks are previewing on our Listening Stations. While it's still not quite where we would like it to be as far as granularity, we can begin to get a picture of the activity to share and observe how our programs influence the listening popularity. Hopefully soon we can combine this with mobile.

2. Indie Summer Camp

I hope those that got to attend Summer Camp had as productive and fun time as we did. It was incredible to see so many labels friends and record store friends in one place. Our trade show booth was awesome and we were able to demonstrate our tools to many new faces. I'm sharing pictures here to show the fun. Everyone that had a booth really made the trade show incredible for everyone. Fun times in New Orleans.

3. Preorder Support

We know Preorder support is a hot topic for discussion.

As for Broadtime's strategy, we have created another category for our campaigns that are "preorder only" and we are adding additional weeks of support for releases on our regular campaigns. THIS MAKES OUR PROGRAMS LONGER!

When on our preorder radar, the release will go into our widely hosted "Upcoming Releases - Preorder" genre on all of the sites and station and apps. We will call attention to the releases with banner ads and with our news postings

4. Latest APP & BPM Station developments

We believe very strongly that Mobile Apps represent a new frontier of marketing the stores and connecting our record store brands to their customer base in exciting new ways. By delivering a listening station to every customer's pocket we can then reach them with friendly messages to increase engagement.

So we have been hard at work making new features or our BPM Mobile Store App and our BPM Stations. This includes a new wishlist function for the App where customers can add the records they are previewing and want to a WISHLIST. We are also working to get mobile commerce enabled for our apps. WE ARE GETTING VERY CLOSE TO LAUNCHING THIS.  If you haven't yet, please download our newest customer's app, Down In The Valley. (

5. BROADTIME ON THE ROAD AND TOUR SUPPORT As we look to creative ways, to drive more attention to artists and releases at retail, we contemplated the markets where we have website and kiosk customers and the map gives us some really good (and growing) coverage of the country. We are super excited to now have over 80 stations in service at stores around the country.

See Map below and interactively on our Tour Support page.

So, in addition to our tagging and display of videos, banners, and digital signage, we can create concert calendar events in the markets, and create additional signage and banners, and event tagging.

An individual Event for each show will be created and placed on the calendar of each Record Store within the touring market invoking an EVENT tag to be placed on each release of the artist. The tour dates will also be highlighted on The Home Page and Artist Page of each applicable site and Kiosk. (as well as New Release, and featured item pages)

Broadtime will create and provide an individual animated Kiosk screen saver sign and banners for each Record Store located within the touring market calling out the specific local date and venue. These will rotate when station is idle -

* It's like getting two ads in one, as there is extra promotion that also cover the concerts

* It's up to 4 Months of ad coverage for the tour

Example Tear Sheet with Dates

We will add in Tour support on our proposals by default for a modest increase, to cover the cost of the dozen or so banners, signage, and event creation we will undertake. It's optional of course, for some titles it may make more sense to run as we do today.

However, the impact and improved exposure in the touring markets will pull in more and more fans to stores and shows.

New Release Round-Up 09-15-17

New Releases - September 15 2017

Foo Fighters - Concrete And Gold - RCA
"I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin's sense of melody and arrangement… Motorhead's version of Sgt. Pepper… or something like that." So speaks Dave Grohl of the mission statement made manifest in Foo Fighters' ninth epic, the aptly-titled Concrete and Gold, out on Roswell Records / RCA Records. Concrete And Gold was written and performed by Foo Fighters, produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and mixed by Darrell Thorp.

Ariel Pink will release his new album, Dedicated To Bobby Jameson, on September 15. The recording is his first solo album since his highly acclaimed 2014 prog-pop opus pom pom, and first full-length release with the Brooklyn-based independent label Mexican Summer. The new release’s title makes a direct and heartfelt reference to a real-life Los Angeles musician, long presumed dead, who resurfaced online in 2007 after 35 reclusive years to pen his autobiography and tragic life story. The album will also be available on Indie Exclusive Limited Edition Blue LP.

One of the most influential singer-songwriters of all time releases his latest studio album, The Laughing Apple. The Laughing Apple features original songs and covers, though the covers on this album are Yusuf's own. He celebrates some of his earliest material, with new presentations of the songs. Conceptually, The Laughing Apple returns to the journey of the Tillerman, as he recalls his travels and life lessons to a younger generation. The albums cover features Yusuf's own illustration, the first time he has designed one of his covers since 1972. Yusuf has drawn additional works of art for each of the 11 songs on The Laughing Apple

SLOTFACE - Try Not To Freak Out

SLOTFACE - Try Not To Freak OutSløtface - Try Not To Freak Out - Nettwerk RecordsSLOTFACE - Try Not To Freak Out
On their debut album Try Not To Freak Out Norwegian four-piece Sløtfacedeliver political punk wrapped in pop packaging. They’ve won over fans and critics alike with their massive hooks, scorching riffs, and sometimes biting, sometimes earnest, yet always relatable lyrics. Sløtface are a young band poised for a break-out year on the back of a fully-formed, tenacious debut. Prior to the album’s release, the band – lead singer Haley Shea, guitarist Tor-Arne Vikingstad, bassist Lasse Lokøy, and drummer Halvard Skeie Wiencke – are taking on the EU/UK festival circuit with their powerful live show. And they are planning a North American tour in support of the album this fall.

The Lone Star-bred collective, The Texas Gentlemen, takes its cues from some of the iconic acts of the past — the quicksilver brilliance of The Wrecking Crew and Bob Dylan’s one-time backers The Band are the most obvious examples. Founding member, Beau Bedford, who shares chief engineering and production responsibilities at Dallas’ Modern Electric Sound Recorders, assembled The Texas Gentlemen as an all-purpose backing band for an eclectic array of singer-songwriters, including Leon Bridges, Nikki Lane, Jonathan Tyler and Paul Cauthen. That deft fusion of what came before with what is right now develops through the members’ unswerving dedication to simply play to the best of their abilities, trusting their instincts, and letting the music guide them. Case in point: TX Jelly was created in less than a week — four days, start to finish — at Muscle Shoals’ singular FAME Studios. Pared down from the 28 songs the Gentlemen recorded in that 96-hour span, TX Jelly effortlessly connects way back to what’s next, summoning the spirits of American songcraft even as it heralds the arrival of 21st century talent. Cut live, with little use for the blinding polish and careful presentation of so much modern music, TX Jelly oozes with skill backed up by that hard-won authenticity. TX Jelly moves between contemplative and raucous, encompassing the full breadth of the American experience. The music touches on blues, soul, folk, country, rock and gospel — from first track to last, you can feel The Texas Gentlemen reaching deep inside themselves and finding what’s genuine — what illuminates the truth of the country’s rich, complicated and singular artistic history — and delivering it the only way they know how: real, raw and righteous.

ANGUS & JULIA STONE - SnowAngus & Julia Stone - Snow - Nettwerk RecordsANGUS & JULIA STONE - Snow
The Sydney-born siblings produced and largely engineered Snow themselves, in Angus's cottage studio, Belafonte, in the Byron Bay hinterland. “It was quite magical because Angus and I have never spent that much time together, just the two of us,” says Julia. “The last phase of writing and recording was just eight weeks of him and me and the quiet of the land. It was a beautiful time.” Since they began in 2006, Angus & Julia Stone have amassed multi-platinum sales and numerous ARIA awards at home, and won a fanbase of millions over tours of the UK, Europe & North America.

YUSUF / CAT STEVENS - The Laughing Apple

YUSUF / CAT STEVENS - The Laughing AppleLeon Russell - On A Distant Shore [Indie Exclusive Deluxe Edition] - Palmetto Records
Leon Russell turned 74 years old in 2016. At the time, he’d already logged more than half a century onstage, weaving a legendary path through the worlds of rock & roll, soul, country, blues and classic pop music. He was still active in the recording studio, too, where he spent much of the year working on a new album, On A Distant Shore, during breaks in his busy touring schedule.  Released in September 2017, On a Distant Shore arrives 10 months after Russell’s passing. It’s his final album, offering up a stunning batch of original material — including updated versions of three hits from his older catalog — all influenced by the timeless sounds of the Great American Songbook. These aren’t cover songs. Instead, they’re Russell’s own version of pop and jazz standards, filled with sweeping strings, upright piano, pedal steel, horns, and a voice that retained its powerful, poignant punch until the very end.  This collection of songs will be released in two configurations, a 12 song CD, and an Indie Exclusive Deluxe Edition of 16 songs, including 4 additional songs+lyric booklet.

Enter Shikari - The Spark

Enter Shikari - The SparkEnter Shikari - The Spark - PIAS AmericaEnter Shikari - The Spark
In fifth album The Spark, Rou, Chris Batten (bass), Rob Rolfe (drums) and Rory Clewlow (guitar) have written a soundtrack to our tumultuous world; a record for everyone who’s filled with frustration, but hasn’t lost the capacity for hope. “The spark is a new connection, a new beginning,” says Rou. “It can be short and insignificant, but it can create something so significant. The spark is that light at the end of the tunnel – when everything seems to be falling apart, but you’re able to see some sort of path out of the dark.” Produced by David Kosten (Everything Everything, Bat For Lashes), it’s Enter Shikari's most melodic album, invigorated by the energy they felt as a band after a sold-out 2016 arena tour, and one that will see them break beyond punk to be recognised as a great British band in a lineage spanning The Beatles via Pink Floyd and Joy Division to Blur. “We’re here to disgrace that list or be embraced into that list, I haven’t decided which yet,” Rou grins.

Midland - On The Rocks

Midland - On The RocksMidland - On The Rocks - Big Machine RecordsMidland - On The Rocks
Midland intentionally nods to the wild west with Country music reminiscent of the 1970s and 80s, channeling idols Dwight Yoakam and Willie Nelson, both legends whom they previously opened for on the road. Their 2016 self-titled debut EP was featured in Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and Billboard and their music video earned them their first CMT Music Awards nomination for Group Video of the Year. On The Rocks is Midland's anticipated first full-length release on Big Machine Records.

Otherwise - Sleeping Lions

Otherwise - Sleeping LionsOtherwise - Sleeping Lions - Nettwerk RecordsOtherwise - Sleeping Lions
Otherwise have announced the release of their third, full-length album, Sleeping Lions, set for a Sept. 22 release. The band has been on tour this summer, playing some of the new tracks from the album to live audiences prior to the release. The group believes that the title captures their essence in a way that touts who they are as artists, and how they have evolved. “We named the album Sleeping Lions because that’s what we feel like — we’ve been hibernating in our neon desert cave, licking our wounds and regaining our strength for the hunt,” says Otherwise frontman Adrian Patrick. “Now we’re back on the prowl again, and our eyes are wide open. The album title absolutely references a bigger awareness of who we are and what we’re capable of. The last thing you ever want to do is wake sleeping lions.” The 12-track offering runs an emotional gamut that parallel real life struggles. Among the suggested highlights in the press materials include the blistering “Angry Heart,” the more heartfelt “Blame,” the gut punch of “Bloodline Lullaby,” the chaos of the relationship-based “Monster” and the symphonically emotional “Nothing to Me.”
