[ MOBILE APP - GEOFENCE INSTRUCTIONS ]

1. LOCATING PUSH MESSAGES IN THE ADMIN (back to top)

In order to send a push you will go to the Admin and click the BPM PUSH link in the sidebar under BPM.

(A reminder, that BPM Kiosk is our listening station and BPM Mobile is how we refer to the APPS. Manage BPMs above that link is for Listening Stations.)

2. HOW TO SEND A BASIC PUSH (vs Rich Push) (back to top)

In order to send a push you will first need to choose to send to either iOS or Android users or both, then enter your desired text into the Message field.

Currently, you can send up to 148 characters which we refer to as a STANDARD message size. When sending a RICH PUSH message you can send much more text.

We have limited to standard size currently with Rich Push coming soon.

If you are not attaching a URL, you can just type your message, hit send and that is all. The message results should appear in the logs below the message builder.

3. HOW TO SEND A URL PUSH (structure) [COMING SOON] (back to top)

You can send URL's as part of RICH push messages. This feature will be enabled when RICH PUSH is fixed to wake the apps up.

The reason you would want to send a URL push would be to take your app users to a specific page with the app.

Some examples include linking to an album, a list of albums, a news article, or an Event such as in in store.

Currently, you cannot link OUTSIDE of the app to elsewhere on the mobile web, but we can work on that feature.

It's extremly useful for promoting specific releases and information you want to share in your PUSH.

We intend to use this feature with CIMS programs starting in February to send a once a month call out to the mobile programs.

Below is an example of how to link to specific content.

#/Item/[ID]

#/NewsItem/[ID]

#/Event/[ID]

#/Genre/[ID]

Where [ID] is the id associated with your particular page you wish to all out.

For example: If you wanted to link to the Preorder Genre you may do the following:

1. Look up the genre ID (It's 694713 by looking in Admin at Genres)

So your text may say, Preorder these hot releases now! and the URL would be:

#/Genre/694713

The same is true with linking to a specific record, News Post, or Event

4. HOW TO SEND A IMAGE PUSH (back to top)

For sending image push messages, you first need a image that's on the web to start with or upload one to our site.

You may upload an image using PHOTO SETS in the Admin and then copying the URL to that image.

Then upload photos and grab their URL to paste into the photo section of your BPM PUSH in the admin (once we reactivate)

Then paste that URL in to the PUSH section of the Admin:

5. Things to think about related to Beacon triggers and Geofencing pushes (near future) (back to top)

Some things we have planned next year, included trigger PUSH messages for your customers, explained below:

We have them working now, but we are building some parameters into the messages so that they don't oversend/overwhelm/spam your customers.

For now, please think about how you would use them and what you would say.

GEOFENCING PUSH

This is where you define and area around your store (in mileage) that sets up a perimeter. Anytime a customer passes within that zone they recieve a PUSH message from you. You might say something like "Hey, we heard you were in the neighborhood, menthion this message for 10% of a used purchase"

We are working to set it up so that it won't repeat for a period of time (weeks), and wont' repeat until the message is changed.

(Because if they drive by your shop on the way to work everyday that message would get annoying and feel spammy)

BEACON PUSH

All of our listening stations are setup with Bluetooth beacons activated on them and they are mapped to the App associated with your store. When a customer comes in your store and encounters the beacon they can receive a custom PUSH message from you. Maybe "Thanks for coming in today we are glad you are here, it's a great day for music!"

Again, we will want to set frequency parameters.
